Camp Nou
Foster + Partners’ competition winning design for the Camp Nou Stadium in Barcelona was unveiled in September to much interest from the architectural and sporting press.
It’s a challenging project; the stadium will glow on match nights, will mould to the existing asymmetric seating bowl, will include the club colours and will be entirely remodelled whilst in continuous use. Already the largest stadium in Europe the project will extend capacity and facilities to provide covered seating to 106,000 fans.
The competition design, supported by the work of pha consult, will incorporate a new roof structure with a mosaic outer skin to wrap the building and to provide shading and shelter for year round spectator comfort.
