PHA Consult were commissioned by Langly Developments to provide Sustainable MEP and Environmental Analysis services for this mixed-use development at Eastern Esplanade, Southend-on-Sea, designed by Jestico + Whiles. This development will reconnect the Eastern Esplanade back to Southchurch Park and will form the eastern end of Southend’s Golden Mile; a key element of the wider Thames Gateway Landmark regeneration.
The scheme comprises a mixed use development on 1.4 hectares and includes a hotel, 200 residential apartments, accommodation for 200 students, retail and restaurant uses together with associated parking and public open space. The design includes a 14 storey landmark tower and a range of 3,4,5 and 6-storey buildings set around public squares.
Detailed solar and daylight analysis has been undertaken against BRE Guidance, to demonstrate the impact of the development on adjacent residential development and public space. This work has been submitted alongside a sustainability statement for the proposals that illustrates the strategies undertaken to minimize the environmental impact of the development. A planning decision is pending for this development.
